In short

GAirFlash has no accounts, no advertising and no tracking. Your flight plans are read and converted on your phone and written to the SD card in the aircraft over the local network; they never reach us. The app sends crash reports and speed measurements that identify neither you nor your aircraft, and one switch in Settings turns them off.

In the app

Flight plans, per-aircraft settings and your preferences stay on your phone and the card. On Android the system requires the location permission to suggest a Wi-Fi network; the app never reads a position.

When the app crashes it sends a crash report with a short replay of the screens before it, in which all text and images are masked on the device. It also reports that it started and that it stopped, and measures how fast the app runs: opening, changing screens, how long the card took to answer and whether an upload worked. None of this contains flight plans, file names, card or network identifiers, or anything about you; measurements carry a random identifier of this installation, replaced if you reinstall.

Crash reports go to a provider in the European Union and are kept for 30 days. Speed measurements go to a provider outside Switzerland and the EU and are kept for 90 days. Our basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the app reliable. Diagnostics in Settings turns all of it off, and the app works the same either way.

Support and messages

The support form asks for your email address and your message. A report sent from inside the app can add the flight plan that failed and the card settings file, with its keys and serial removed, plus a reference to your installation of the app; you see all of it before sending. Tickets are kept in an issue tracker in the United States under the EU–US and Swiss–US Data Privacy Framework, and replies are sent by an email provider.

Messages left on our telephone number are recorded and transcribed by our telephone provider. If you would rather not be recorded, write to support@gairflash.app.

Your contact details are removed after 24 months. The technical description of a fault is kept as the record of why the software changed.

This website

Page views are counted with Vercel Web Analytics, without cookies: page, referrer, approximate location and device type. The host keeps short-lived server logs, including IP addresses, for security. Our basis for both is our legitimate interest in running the site.

Your rights

Write to support@gairflash.app to see, correct or erase what we hold about you. You may also complain to your data protection authority; in Switzerland that is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner.

If this policy changes materially, the date above changes and the app’s release notes say so.
